The Merion Golf Club is a private club that is located in Ardmore, Pennsylvania. The Merion Golf Club will be continually assessed on top of the charts as one of the greatest golf courses in America. The club has two courses. The first is the West Course. The second course is more than the famous East Course. In 2009, Merion Golf Club will host the Walker Cup in 2013 and will host the U.S. Open.
The Merion Golf Club can be traced back to1896. In 1896, members of theMerion Cricket Club has decided to open a golf course in Pennsylvania. The membership then decided to go ahead and construct a path that is known as Merion East. The designer of this course is Hugh Wilson, 32, a member of the association. Its original opening date was in September 1912. The original course is closed on that day. Wilson also designed the West Course, opened in May 1914.

Many have made their mark on the two golfers per course.
Merion Golf Club has many pro tournaments. Seventeen United States Golf Association tournament championship, more than any other golf course in the world. The first two in the U.S.Women's Amateur Championship were of course at Haverford in 1904 and 1909. On the East Course, the USGA's first tournament was held in 1916.
